Supported Fire TV devices
Our app works on most Fire TV Sticks, but some run it much better than others, and Amazon's newest models can't run it at all.
How to check your model
- On your Fire TV, go to Settings → My Fire TV → About.
- The first line shows your device name, for example Fire TV Stick 4K Max.
- On the same screen, look at the software version. If it says Fire OS, you're good. If it says Vega OS, your device isn't supported.
Best choice
Fastest and smoothest. Channels load quickly and big guides scroll without lag.
-
Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen, 2023) Our top pick. Fast processor, 16 GB storage and Wi-Fi 6E for a strong connection.
-
Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen, 2022) The most powerful Fire TV. Has an Ethernet port, so you can plug straight into your router for the most reliable streaming.
-
Fire TV Stick 4K Max (1st Gen, 2021) Still a great performer with Wi-Fi 6.
Works well
Runs the app smoothly for everyday watching. A little slower to open and switch channels than the best choices.
-
Fire TV Stick 4K Plus Solid 4K stick with 8 GB storage.
-
Fire TV Stick 4K (2nd Gen, 2023) Good everyday option.
-
Fire TV smart TVs (Insignia, Toshiba, Amazon Fire TV Omni and others) TVs with Fire TV built in work like a Fire Stick. Older or budget models can be slower.
Works, but slower
The app installs and plays, but these older or lower-powered models can be slow with large channel lists and may buffer more. Fine to start with; consider an upgrade if it feels sluggish.
-
Fire TV Stick 4K (1st Gen, 2018) Getting older; may lag when loading the guide.
-
Fire TV Stick (3rd Gen) and Fire TV Stick Lite Low memory, so expect slower loading.
-
Fire TV Stick HD (2024 model) Works, but check the year: the 2026 HD model is not supported.
Not supported
These newer models run Amazon's Vega OS, which blocks installing apps from outside the Amazon Appstore. Our app cannot be installed on them.
-
Fire TV Stick 4K Select Looks similar to the 4K Plus, so double-check the name.
-
Fire TV Stick HD (2026 model) The newest HD stick runs Vega OS.
-
Any new Fire TV Stick released after these Amazon has said all future Fire TV Sticks will use Vega OS.
Tips for the smoothest streaming
- Use a wired Ethernet connection if you can (built into the Fire TV Cube, or with Amazon's Ethernet adapter for sticks).
- On Wi-Fi, keep the router close to the TV and use the 5 GHz network.
- Restart your Fire TV every week or so to keep it running fast.
